Baton Rouge Blastoff, January 15-16
Both of our teams advanced to the semifinals in the first tournament of the year.

Memphis MLK, January 29-30
VBR, seeded third in pool play, not only won that pool, the girls then made it to the gold-bracket final before falling in the championship match, while Baton Rouge won the silver bracket to finish 7th.

Southern Hospitality in Jackson, Miss., February 12-13
Baton Rouge won the tournament! And we were so close to an all-Volleyball Baton Rouge championship match.
After VBR lost to Arkansas Juniors in the semifinals in three up-and-down sets, Baton Rouge beat the team that it had lost to Saturday in pool play, coming back after losing the first set in the gold-bracket final to win in three.

Red River Classic, Shreveport, February 26-27
Baton Rouge made it back-to-back titles, winning all its matches including a come-from-behind, three-set victory in the championship final. We beat Memphis Elite 17-25, 25-16, 15-8. See a victory photo on the 2011 Fun Photos page. VBR went 2-1 in pool play but came up unlucky after forcing a three-way tie, finishing third. However, we won both matches Sunday, meaning both teams combined for a 10-1 record for the weekend.

Houston Cross Court Classic, Houston, March 12-13
We closed down the building but it was well worth the wait!
Baton Rouge captured the 14s Elite division championship just before 8 o'clock Sunday night, winning all seven of its matches over two days, never losing a set. We beat Brazos Valley in the final, 25-15, 25-14, for our third consecutive tournament championship.
VBR tied for 7th in the 72-team 14s club division field, winning all three of its pool matches on Saturday before splitting two matches Sunday, losing to the eventual champion. It marked quite an improvement: A year ago in 13s, VBR tied for 55th, last place in the 56-team field.

Lone Star Classic, Dallas, April 15-17
Only Baton Rouge went to this tournament and tied for 17th out of 48 teams in the National division.

Acadiana Challenge, Lafayette, April 29-May 1
Baton Rouge lost in the championship final, while VBR tied for 5th.

Bayou Region Qualifier, New Orleans, May 7
Baton Rouge lost in the semifinals, while VBR lost its only two matches.

AAU National Championships, Orlando, June 15-18
Baton Rouge recorded the club's highest finish ever in this event, tying for 9th in a field of 130 by staying in the gold bracket after three grueling days of the four-day tournament. VBR grinded to a tie for 83rd. See the team photo at the Orange County Convention Center on the 2011 Fun Photos page.
